Ode to Michael Jackson

I watched the memorial service for Michael Jackson this morning. What a beautiful time of remembrance and celebration. Tears of sadness and joy filled the world today.

What wonderful oratory, praises and stories about the man whose talent left us in awe, whose facial features sold much gossip, and whose life gave us blessings and gave us drama to feed the human need for stories.

Don't we all know who Michael Jackson was? I doubt anyone really knew who he was.

After hearing the stories about him from his closest friends, indeed, he gave his all when he was on stage, even though offstage he was so softspoken. He truly lived life -- no matter what the ridicules and accusations.

ODE TO MICHAEL JACKSON
The world of entertainment is an ironic one
We idolize our entertainers
Yet we ridicule them
We all long to be superstars
Yet we look down on the profession.

He came to earth with an open soul
He blessed us
With his words and songs and dance
True,
Black or White,
brown or yellow
He enticed them into stadium doors
And embraced them with music and happiness
And for the moment, We Are The World
Happiness is all there is
In a world of the Bad,
the Dangerous,
the Smooth Criminal.

Ironically, the Entertainer does what the Politician is meant to do
Perhaps his passing -- amidst anger, sadness, accusations
is the jolting moment for mankind to Heal The World
Now we Remember The Time he set his feet here
Now, the question to us is:
Do we
Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'?
